Request for Workshop Proposals

As in years past, the MMMC planning committee is seeking proposals for workshops to be offered during the 2008 MMMC Retreat.  This year, there will be between 9 and 12 workshops selected for the program.  We invite previous MMMC workshop presenters, past MMMC supporting organizations, past MMMC attendees, social change non-profit organizations and affinity groups, or anyone else committed to engaging young people with wealth in aligning their resources with their social change values to submit a proposal.  We would like to encourage the submission of as many proposals as possible.  Submitters can use the 2008 theme, "Many Stories, Many Strategies," and the 3 program areas below as a guide to get a sense of the range of approaches to this work we hope to offer:

Transforming Ourselves as Part of Transforming the World (Personal Development). Encourages participants to look inward at their values, identity, relationships and personal stories in relation to class, wealth and giving.

Managing and Moving Money (Tools and Technical Assistance.) The ins and outs of financial management, investing and accountable philanthropy. This track explores how to understand assets, develop a giving plan, and understanding various methods for giving.

Please note: There will be a separate panel or panels on Socially Responsible Investing and philanthropic services please contact trinh.duong@fex.org if you are interested in participating.

Connecting with Social Justice Movements (Political Education.) This track explores social justice philanthropy within the context of social justice movement building, provides examples of how young people with wealth can be allies to activists, organizations and movements, and shares best practices in building relationships across race and class to create social, racial and economic justice.
